Article 1
The National Development Council shall establish the National Archives Administration (hereinafter referred to as the NAA) to administer the management and access regarding records of government agencies.
Article 2
The NAA shall be in charge of the following matters:
1.Studying and drafting policies, legislation, and management systems for records;
2.Supervising and evaluating the management and access regarding records of government agencies, and compiling and publishing catalogs regarding records of government agencies;
3.Reviewing the retention periods and destruction practices regarding records of government agencies;
4.Rppraising and classifying records, determining retention periods of records and settling other issues;
5.Acquiring, transferring, organizing, and preserving archives, making them available for access, and planning and implementing the establishment of facilities;
6.Receiving donations of, holding in trust of, or purchasing documents or records owned by private individuals or organizations;
7.Planning and coordinating the building of documents and records information systems;
8.Researching the management and access of records, and conducting related publishing, technology development, academic exchange, and international cooperation, as well as training of records manager;
9.Planning and implementing official documents timeliness control at the Executive Yuan and its subordinate agencies; and
10.Other matters pertaining to records.
Article 3
The NAA shall have one Director-General at grade13, and two Deputy Directors-General at grade 12.
Article 4
The NAA shall have one Chief -Secretary at grade 11.
Article 5
The official ranks, grades, and number of positions of the NAA staff shall be set forth by a separate personnel establishment table.
Article 6
The date of enforcement of this Act shall be prescribed by the Executive Yuan.
