Article 1
In order to handle matters related to science and research connected to pesticide safety and plant protection as well as testing matters for agricultural chemicals and toxic substances, the Ministry of Agriculture hereby establishes the Agricultural Chemicals Research Institute (hereafter ACRI).
Article 2
The ACRI shall be in charge of the following matters:
1. Research and services related to inspection and testing technology and techniques for agricultural chemicals and toxic substances.
2. Testing and safety evaluations for agricultural chemicals and toxic substances in agricultural products and the agricultural environment.
3. Research related to the development and application of technology and techniques for environmentally-friendly plant protection materials.
4. Research related to technology and techniques for detection, prevention, and eradication of organisms harmful to agriculture.
5. Research related to pesticide control systems, laws, and regulations and technical review of registration of pesticides.
6. Extension services, education, and consultation services related to pesticides and plant protection technology and techniques.
7. Other matters related to science and detection of agricultural chemicals, toxic substances, and plant protection.

Article 3
The ACRI shall have one director with the rank of senior civil servant Grade 12 to 13 and one deputy director, to hold the post in a concurrent capacity.
Article 4
The ACRI shall have one chief secretary, to hold the post in a concurrent capacity.
Article 5
When necessary, the positions of researcher, associate researcher, and assistant researcher at the ACRI shall be filled in accordance with relevant provisions of the “Act Governing the Appointment of Educators.” Their retirement and pensions shall be handled in accordance with relevant provisions for teachers, and shall be reported to the Ministry of Agriculture for approval.
Article 6
The number of personnel in the ACRI and their ranks and grades shall be stipulated in a separate staffing chart.
Article 7
The Executive Yuan shall determine the date this Act comes into effect.
